鯛焼きが生まれた背景には、高級魚が食べられない貧民達への遊び心があった。
形だけを模したこの菓子は、種が形骸化したものとも言える。
この作品で焼き菓子とな っているのは、福島第一原発事故以降に
基準値を越える放射性物質が検出された魚たち*。
一歩間違えば他の種を絶滅させてしまう人間の営みに正解などあるのだろか？
自分自身答えなど知る由もなかったが、屋台を通じて道行く人と対話する場を設けたかったのだ。
食という体験を通じて鑑賞者は当事者へと移り行く。
平成23年4月7日〜平成27年1月9日に検出された放射性セシウム134、セシウム137合計の最大値を参考にしたもの。
数値は福島県、水産庁、国立保健医療料学院の調査結果による。
The creation of taiyaki stemmed from a playful idea for the poor who couldn't afford luxury fish. This confection, which merely imitates the shape of the fish, can be seen as a symbolic representation of a species that has become hollow. In this work, the baked goods are made from fish that were found to contain radioactive substances exceeding safety standards after the Fukushima nuclear accident*.
Is there any correct way for humans to conduct activities that, if mishandled, could drive other species to extinction? I didn't have the answers myself, but I wanted to create a space for dialogue with passersby through a food stall. Through the experience of eating, visitors transition from mere observers to participants.
*This is based on the maximum values of radioactive cesium-134 and cesium-137 detected between April 7, 2011, and January 9, 2015. The data comes from surveys conducted by Fukushima Prefecture, the Fisheries Agency, and the National Institute of Public Health.
